| Millar Does It Again!!! |
| In a field of 156 of which the top 30 gain full playing rights on the European Tour our touring professional Matt Millar finished tied 15th after six tension filled rounds at Q School. After shooting two over in the first round and sitting tied 119th Matt then produced four sub-par rounds including a six under 65 in round five to move through the field and gain his card. Ranked around 500 in the world Matt is a home grown Belconnen junior and 2009 will see him playing his fourth year on the tour. Before then he will be playing the major Australasian tournaments starting next week with the Australian Masters at Huntingdale.

| ACT Seniors Championship |
| The first round of the ACT Seniors championship, a prestigious Australian Order of Merit Tournament, was held at our course on Tuesday 11 November. The following Email was received from the DGA:
"On behalf of the ACT Monaro District Golf Association I would like to thank you for making your course available for the first round of the ACT Seniors Championship today. Please compliment the Course Superintendant and his staff on the presentation and standard of the course today. All of the players commented on how good the course was and what great condition it was in especially the greens".
The superb condition of our course is something that the members have been appreciating for some time. Congratulations to Brad and his staff on recieving this wider recognition.

| Belconnen Ladies Excel in Tasmania! |
| Eight Belconnen women members travelled to Ulverstone in Tasmania last week to compete in the Australian Seniors’ Championship. This event is for women aged 55 and over on handicaps of 22 and under. The format is 2 days of stroke qualifying rounds followed by matchplay. The top 16 players qualify for the championship matchplay while the next 8 in each age division compete in the age flights.
94 players from all over Australia competed in the championship this year. Yukie Wathelet and Chris Taylor qualified for the 55–59 years age flight while Shirley Walsh qualified in the 60–64 years flight. Both Chris and Shirley won their first match but were defeated in the semi-final.
The championship was won by Sylvia Donohoe from Narooma who defeated Liz Smyth from Royal Canberra in the final. Yukie Wathelet received a prize for the second best nett score in the two qualifying rounds.

| 2008 A-Grade Scratch Matchplay Championships |
| The A grade Scratch Match Play Final was played last Saturday between Mike Williamson and Mark George. The match proved to be one of the highest standard, being all square after 18 holes with both players shooting even par off the stick. On the 19th both players found trouble off the tee with Mark in the trees on the right and Mike in the trees on the left. From there Mike went on to birdie the hole and secure the title. While congratulations go to Mike as champion a contest of such high calibre shows the strength of the club and augurs well for the forthcoming pennant season.

| Even ""More"" Reciprocal Rights Agreements Negotiated |
| Belconnen Magpies Golf Club has recently agreed upon a large number of reciprocal rights with other golf clubs. Members are required to mention the agreement at Pro shops when paying green fees. | 2009 Pennants Nominations |
| Within the coming few weeks the Match Committee will be requesting nominations for many of the 2009 pennant teams. The club is looking extremely strong for a number of the teams this year so if you wish to play make sure you look out for the nomination forms in the club house. Please get your name down early to avoid any disappointment. Any questions in regard to pennant teams / selections etc should be directed toward the Men Captian
